The meeting was called to order at 6:40 by Jim Lewis, President
We had a guest speaker, Bob Nelson from the Hunters Pointe Homeowners Association speak at our meeting concerning the erosion problems that they are having and which also affects Silver Chase and several other neighborhoods. Because of the development north of the Shops of Seville at 101 st and Yale, the water flow through Hunters Pointe, Crowne Pointe, Brighton Oaks and Silver Chase has greatly increased along the creek and has caused a great deal of erosion in these neighborhoods. And it will only continue to get worse if nothing is done. Bob Nelson is heading up a group
from these neighborhoods to form a coalition to work with the city and the Corp of Engineers to find out what can be done to correct this before it gets worse. Jim Lewis and Gordy Guest have volunteered to be on this committee.
The election of officers was held with:
a. President ~ Gordy Guest and Jim Lewis will share duties as president
b. Vice President – no one would volunteer
c. Treasurer – Kelliee Muckleroy
d. Secretary — Loray Brady
Jim Lewis was presented with a gift certificate at a restaurant for all the time he has put in the past 3 years. (Not realizing he was still going to be president). A motion was made by Kent Oellien to give St. Bernard’s $100 for the use of their facility for this meeting. It was seconded by Kellie Muckelroy.
The topic of the fences along 101st was brought up again. Even after the vote was taken last summer, Jim has still received emails asking what Silver Chase is going to do about the fences that are falling down. Jim explained the progression of what had happened regarding the fence. It was suggested that the ballot for the fences and the increase is dues was a bit confusing and that we should treat the dues increase and the fence as separate issues. It was also suggested that maybe a committee of the people who live along 101st should discuss what they would prefer. While I think most people would like a new fence, the problem of financing the cost is still the main issue.
a. Jim asked for volunteers to help with the flowers at the entrances and a committee for snow and ice removal, and for putting up the Christmas lights at the entrances in Nov.
b. Directory Sheets are available from Kellie Muckleroy to update and also for new residents. Ladies Night Out was announced. It will be on Feb. 28th at Charlotte Guest’s house. It will be at 7:00 p.m.
c. John Sullivan was recognized for all the electrical work that he has done on the lamps at the entrances and other work that he has done.
d. There was a discussion on whether to resume the Silver Chase Newsletter. Silver Chase has a web site, www.silverchase.org that contains basic information regarding Silver Chase. Matt Galloway will set up a web site for the newsletter. It is not clear if anyone is going to help write up the newsletter.
e. There was a suggestion to put the Silver Chase directory information on an email in an excel document so that we could have updates on this information. It would be a secure site for only Silver Chase residents.
f. Jim Lewis talked about the plowing of streets during the last two snow storms. He was out of town and did not realize the severity of the problem. Had he been in town, he probably would have had the streets plowed. (Hence the request for a snow removal committee.) With only $3,633.60 in our checking account, we could only have done it for the first storm and not the second one.
g. Since Debbie Ritchie was out of town. Jim gave the financial report. Our income was $17,472.84. Expenses were $13,839.24 leaving us with $3,633.60.
h. The meeting ended at 8:06 p.m.
